Protect Your Identity Kick-Off Sponsored by:

Protect Your Identity Month Campaign

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater San Antonio (CCCSSA) is kicking off Protect Your Identity Month in October to educate people about the dangers of Identity Theft and help those who have already fallen victim. Identity theft is the only crime where the victim is guilty until proven innocent. In 2010, over 8 million Americans became victims of identity theft, paying more than $37 billion in losses. CCCSSA’s goal is to reduce these numbers.

In cases of identity theft, early detection is critical. A credit report review can help identify unknown charges that may indicate a thief has stolen your identity. That’s why CCCSSA is offering a free credit report review during the month of October 2011 when you schedule an appointment and present this coupon at the front desk. A counselor will then go over your credit report side by side with you so that you know exactly where your credit financials stand.

If you have already fallen victim to identity theft, cleaning up the mess can be a real hassle, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our counselors can assist you throughout the resolution process by helping you find the right agencies to report to in your area, compose letters describing your situation, maintain records for follow up, and salvage your damaged credit score.

If you’re looking for tips on how to prevent your identity from being stolen, check out some of our suggestions below or make an event out of it by hosting a Preventing Identity Theft Class taught by one of our knowledgeable credit counselors.

To learn more about proof of eligibility requirements, contact CCCSSA at 210.979.4300 or 1.800.410.2227 toll-free, or send us an email
